Music Ministry
The music ministry enables and enriches worship through God's gift of music, providing music for Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM, for special holy day services, and for weddings, funerals, and memorial services. The choir leads worship from January to June and September to December, offering a variety of special musical offerings during the summer months. Worship leaders also provide music during the Wednesday morning healing services.
The music ministry uses music from all ages and of various types to worship and praise the Lord. There is plenty of room and opportunity for everyone to join in this ministry. The choir meets for rehersals at 7:30 on Thursday evenings in the church. As the Psalmist wrote, make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
Church Organ History
The organ at Grace Church was built in Suffolk, England by J. W. Walker & Sons LTD. The Walker tracker action organ's first home was the Congregational Church in Pakachoag, MA, not far from the Worcester City line, where it resided for ten years. It was the first Walker organ to be installed in the United States.
When the congregation in Pakachoag, Ma, was preparing to move to a larger location, they offered their organ for sale. Grace Church purchased the organ for its newly renovated worship space. The Pakachoag organist, upon hearing the organ perform at Grace Church, said that the organ, which had spent its first ten year of life in a building with low ceilings, was finally free to make the music it was created to make in Grace Church's high-ceilinged worship space.
Liturgical Assistants
Lectors read scripture lessons and lead the Prayers of the People.
Eucharistic Ministers read scripture lessons and minister the chalice to communicants.
Acolytes assist the priest at the altar.
Eucharistic Visitors take home communion to parishioners who are unable to attend corporate worship.
Ushers greet visitors and members of the congregations, hand out bulletins, and direct parishioners at the time of communion.
Altar Guild

The Altar Guild has a special role as a liturgical partner to Grace Church's priests in making the worship life of the parish run smoothly. The Altar Guild members are called to serve God in preparing and tending the place where the people of Grace Church worship God. It is said that the work of the Altar Guild goes on behind the scenes, but at every worship service, every wedding, every baptism, every funeral or memorial service, the congregation sees the work of the Altar Guild. There is a role in this ministry for all willing hearts and helpful hands.
