Shoreline Soup Kitchen Wednesday Lunches
Volunteers, under the auspices of the Shoreline Soup Kitchen, serve lunch to anyone who arrives at Merrill Hall between noon and 1:00 pm on Wednesdays. This includes anyone attending the Healing Service that begins in the church at 10:00 a.m and Shoreline Soup Kitchen guests.
Several different church groups provide the food, each one serving once a month. Grace Church is responsible for serving lunch on the first Wednesday of each month. The meal consists of a main course, side dishes, salad, bread, and dessert, with coffee and juices. The volunteers donate the ingredients and prepare and serve the meal.
Shoreline Soup Kitchen meals are also served at other locations.

Apple Dumplings (contributed by Janice Basil)
2 ½ cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
¾ cup milk
½ cup shortening
6 to 8 apples, sliced
Sauce:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white granulated sugar
½ cup butter or margarine
2 cups water
Prepare dough and roll out on floured surface. Cut into squares. Size is up to you, depending on size of apples. Place apple slices in center of squares. Fold corners into the center and pinch together. Put in a 9 x 13 inch greased pan and pour sauce to cover. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes; check time carefully. You may sprinkle the apples with cinnamon for added flavor.
