Ministries
A Prayer for All Christians in Their Vocation:
“Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers, which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. “ (Book of Common Prayer, pg. 256)
Every Christian, because of our Baptism, is called into ministry. Our hands and our lives become consecrated to God. Each of us has unique talents and gifts. Each one of us can share the Good News of God in Christ wherever we are. We are called by God to minister in His name -- in our families and neighborhoods, our places of work, and in our communities. Scripture teaches that we are a “royal priesthood” called to share Good News in the world.
By virtue of your Baptism, you are truly a “minister”!
At Grace Church, we encourage every member of the congregation to become involved in a ministry within the congregation. You will see many opportunities for service as you read the various sections of this Ministries part of our website. As you spend time getting to know this congregation, you will find exciting ways to serve God. As you do so, your faith will be strengthened and you will discover hidden talents and make new friends in a community of faith.
The role of the Clergy, as Pastors and Teachers within the local congregation, is to “equip the saints for the work of the ministry, for building up the body of Christ until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God.” (Ephesians 3: 11b – 13a)
Discovering new ministries can be one of the most exciting aspects of our faith. As we grow in relationship to God through his Son, we are called to use our unique talents for Kingdom purposes. You may be surprised at the new and wonderful ways that God will use you!
If you would like to become involved in any one of the ministries listed here, please speak with one of the clergy or the parish secretary.
“So, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.” (Ephesians 5: 20, Revised Standard Version)
